Serhiy Smirnov

Serhiy Smirnov - young art/conceptual photographer, was born in 2000, Ukraine. 2016-2021 -  Graduated from the National University Lviv Politechnic with a specialization — psychology  Serhiy started street/art photography in 2016.

In 2016 Serhiy won All-Ukrainian photo competition for young photographers in the "urbanist" and "creative photography" categories In 2017 stopped his career. Serhiy wanted to capture weddings.

After receiving many awards in wedding photography, including a publication in the American wedding magazine LOVERLY, Serhiy completely burns out in this profession and begins to find himself in art photography. In 2023 continued the art photography and in four months of active work created 12 beautiful series. And he became a member of the MYPH`s club in Ukraine.

Although Serhiy has been working in art photography for 4 months, his work has already been in Norway, Great Britain, Serbia and Ukraine. A solo exhibition in Belgium is planned for 2024.

"Now I don't have a particular style of work because every day I try something new, I try to find my way of expressing myself and my photography is about the eternal search for myself. I hope it inspires you to do something beautiful." said Serhiy

He actively exhibits his work under the nickname "wallion_art". For him, it is a reference to the WALL-E cartoon. Serhiy associates himself with this character

After the chaos

Ukraine. The beginning of the war. I am experiencing very intense stress and pain from the fact that all my dreams have been destroyed, and everything that was previously created has also been destroyed.

I didn't pick up a camera for 9 months and only when I finally came to my senses a little bit did I start filming my body as an art object. Feeling different emotions I tried to transfer them into my art. Using different techniques I wanted to convey anger, pain, despair and hatred for everything that was going on

I need more breathe

Inhale. Exhale. It would seem that what could be simpler than breathing? This simple process of automatic action often makes us remember that we are alive. But only when we feel good. War makes us change our breathing, forcing us to be constantly in a bubble where the wind slowly disappears. It becomes harder to breathe, everything puts pressure on your lungs and you are slowly dying from your own body...
