Solo
Every individual enters the world as a child at aspecific point in time. Initially lacking acomplete grasp of our identity, location, andpurpose, we develop these understandings overtime by engaging in communication, bothverbal and non-verbal, with others, thusshaping our sense of self.
In childhood, we very often play such a game:Хто Я? / Who am I?
As individuals, we undergo a continuous process of transformation, navigating variousstages of personal growth. This entails experimenting with different roles and adoptingdiverse pattens of behavior. Over time, we integrate into our families and schools, graduallyassimilating societal norms and values. Through education and professional pursuit, webecome integral parts of the society, defined by our knowledge, skills and social standing.
My name is Andriy Fursenko, 44 years old, hailing from the Kherson region. When asked, "Who am I?" I respond through my project titled"SOLO“. This project, conceived during the "Conceptual Photography" course led by Roman Heels, delves into theapprehension surrounding self-identification.
A single panel measuring 150x200 cm captivates the viewer, adorned with 56 conceptualself-portraits in varying sizes of 10x10 cm, 10x30 cm, with visual intervals of 10x10 cm,10x30 cm, and 10x70 cm.
The arrangement of these self-portraits and the spaces betweenthem serves as a
visual representation of self-identity
Хто Я?
