Pavlo Luhovyi

I am Pavlo Luhovyi, born in 1973 in the city of Voznesensk, Mykolaiv region, where I currently live. During his life, he changed many occupations and professions, from a car mechanic to a wedding photographer. In my works, I pay attention to the impact of progress, the transience and fragility of reality, using various techniques and means.

Aggressor

The news from the liberated Kyiv region and Polissia plunged into a horror that still does not leave. For three months I could not be creative, the first thing I shot was a triptych. A quote from his description, "I was finally able to overcome the toxicity of war and regurgitate the sick vomit called 'Aggressor'". On a subconscious level, I did not want these works to look technically perfect. These photos were taken using a pinhole camera on film, in my workshop in Voznesensk (Ukraine).

Self abuse

A person seeks pleasure outside reality, enjoying a fictional world filled with social and religious values. The latest technologies immerse us in a closed space, keep us where we are always alone with ourselves and our imagination, where phobias rule over everything.

This project is a self-portrait and the result of the author's personal research on how progress affects a person. Photos were taken using long shutter speeds, which allowed shooting without an assistant, with one frame and moving during exposure. In this way, the connection between the visual series and the performance technique is combined into a general concept.
