MYPH at Sklad
"MYPH at Sklad" is an exhibition showcasing the works of 26 MYPH (School of Young Mykolaiv Photography) photographers from Mykolaiv, Kherson, Luhansk, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Vinnytsia, Kropyvnytskyi, Berlin, and the USA.
Some of the presented works at the "Sklad N5" gallery in Cherkasy (Ukraine) have not been exhibited in previous MYPH projects and have not been published in the school's books and catalogs.
The exhibition is the result of creative collaboration among talented photographers whose lenses offer a unique perspective on the theme of the body in contemporary Ukrainian society. This exposition is a product of thoughtful exploration and creative reflection on the representation, perception, and embodiment of the body in various spheres of modern life.
Through a palette of different genres and techniques—from portraits and nudes to conceptual art, digital and analog, instant photography—the authors highlight diverse aspects of corporeality. Experiments with colors and composition help convey emotions, thoughts, and feelings associated with the topic.
Each photo in the exhibition tells a story in which the body becomes a platform for expression. The authors use visual language to prompt viewers to contemplate important aspects of the present: identity, stereotypes, health, self-perception, and relationships with oneself and others. This exhibition is not just a collection of photographs; it is a genuine dialogue between the authors and the audience. Each project participant offers their own interpretation of contemporary realities, and the viewer is free to accept their thoughts or propose their own.
"MYPH at Sklad" inspires us to deepen our understanding of ourselves and the surrounding world through thoughtful and sensitive images. The exhibition encourages us to consider the body as a means of expressing inner depth and as a reflection of sociocultural and psychological processes in modern Ukraine.
The exhibition opens on September 2 at 4:00 PM at the following address: Cherkasy, Nadpilna Street, 252, Fitness Club building 3-4, entrance from the ramp, 2nd floor.
